On March 6th, the exhibition " A Proud Communist, No Regrets: Dr Frey's Dedication to China " jointly organized by the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum and Tongji University was launched at the library of Tongji University's Hu Xi Campus.

Tongji University is a century-old university that originated from medicine. In 1907, adhering to the concept of "Hospitals save lives temporarily, while schools save lives for future generations," the " Deutsche Medizinschule für Chinesen in Shanghai" was founded, initiating the century-old process of educating talents at Tongji University. The exhibition is like a "three-dimensional teaching plan," which is not only the best interpretation of the medical spirit but also an outstanding example for both medical practice and academic studies.

Bierent Elyse Jieni, a student from France, shared her feelings about the exhibition. She said that during her visit, she was deeply touched by the Chinese people's attitude of respecting history and revering heroes. This inheritance of culture and persistence of spirit allowed her to appreciate the profoundness and unique charm of Chinese culture. She will take Dr. Frey as an example, strive to acquire knowledge, actively engage in practice, and use her actions to embody the spirit of international friendship and cooperation, contributing her share to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
Guan Zheng, a 2022 cohort student of the Medical College, said, "We don't have to leave the campus to have such a vivid ideological and political class. Although I have read the biography of Frey before and had some understanding of his life, today's exhibition is more detailed and vivid."
This exhibition is presented again after the display in Shanghai History Museum、East China Normal University and Shanghai Normal University. The exhibition is divided into four chapters, namely, “Ignition of Faith”, “Joining the Revolution”, “Rooted in China” and “Together as Long as Possible”. Through 39 exhibits and video materials, the exhibition comprehensively presents Frey's pursuit of communist ideals, his journey across the ocean to China where he spent 65 years, and Frey's stirring deeds of saving lives, researching medical skills, training medical talents. The exhibition will be on display at the library of Tongji University's Hu Xi Campus until the end of May.
In recent years, the Shanghai Jewish Refugees Museum has emphasized strengthening its connections with primary, secondary, and tertiary schools. It has actively utilized its collection resources and conducted diverse forms of ideological and political education to establish a "second classroom" for youth education. The year 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The Museum plans to bring the Frey’s exhibition to more schools, allowing more teachers and students to understand Frey's internationalist spirit.
